Sales Team Leader Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a full-time role, maternity cover for up to 12 months, to commence in early June 2016.

InsideAsia Tours is a young and dynamic travel company based in Bristol, UK. Our customer facing brands are InsideJapan, InsideVietnam and InsideBurma Tours. The company also has offices in Nagoya, Japan, Boulder, CO, USA, and soon opening in Brisbane, Australia. We organise small group tours and tailored packages for private clients and third-party travel agents. The majority of our customers are UK-based, but we also have a significant volume of customers from North America, Australia (now served by our Japan office, and soon-to-be Australia office) and other parts of the world.

The Position
The Sales Team Leader is responsible for leading and motivating their team to exceed the team sales targets and deliver top customer service. They are the first point of escalation for any problems and should authorise suitable action by their team in the majority of cases. They are to ensure that each team members sales and customer service meet company expectations and that company values are being promoted and adhered to. They are responsible for identifying development needs and knowledge gaps, and play a key role in designing and delivering training and support, and ensuring its ongoing implementation. They report to the Sales Manager and also work closely with the other Team Leaders to promote best practice and ensure peer-to-peer learning.
Your principal duties will be:
Sales Team management
Providing the first line of management support; responding to team questions and issues
Devise engaging sales incentives and challenges to motivate and reward attainment of team sales targets
Proactively monitor team workload, sales and customer service and reporting KPIs to Sales Manager
Assisting with time management and task prioritisation in busy periods
Leading weekly catch ups with team members
Leading call blocks and collective team actions, such as proactive selling and client courtesy calls
Playing a role in the recruitment and training of new starters
Providing extra support for new starters during their 6 month probation period
Carry out checks on bookings at various stages first itinerary (new starters), confirmation (all consultants), Info-Pack (new starters), group tours (all consultants)
Enquiry management
Distribution and tracking of new enquiries among own team
Coordinating with Sales Manager and STL colleagues to ensure enquiry management balanced across IAT
Ensuring enquiries distributed according to capacity of individual team members
Ensure sufficient phone coverage within team at all times of day
Manage team holiday time to ensure adequate capacity within team
Customer service
Support for complaint-handling and managing operational issues
Liaise with Sales Support Staff in own team, and ensure effective support
Liaise with Nagoya office Tantos, to ensure effective support
Training and development
Promoting a culture of self-analysis and peer support within the team
Leading appraisals and ensuring follow up through effective Personal Development Plans
Involvement in design and delivery of group and individual training
Ensuring training is implemented and embedded
Other tasks
Deputising for Sales Manager where necessary
Other reasonable tasks as requested by Sales Manager and/or Directors

Knowledge of Japan and Vietnam

Other:
As a senior member of the team you will be expected to be flexible in your working hours, to take a share of time with the emergency duty phone (on a rota basis) and to be available to deal with incidents whenever they may occur. You will be expected to show leadership and contribute positively to the management of the company. There may be opportunity on occasion to visit our other sales offices for training or support purposes.
Pay and benefits
Salary: £26k to £29k per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week (normal hours 9am to 6pm with 1 hour for lunch)
Holiday: 23 days paid annual leave, plus statutory bank holidays
Bonus: On-target earnings of +£6k per year
Stake Holder Pension: We operate a voluntary scheme. The company will contribute 3% of your monthly salary into the fund. The minimum employee contribution is £1.
